Well, I d/l the new kernel. 2.4.0-test12.

I go to make menuconfig...

it starts to run, then ends, telling me something about ncurses not installed!

I check the packages, and ncurses is installed. I am running turbolinux 6, but I had the same error on tha mandrake system I just removed! I'd like the new kernel, and I want to optimize for my machines configuration. I crunch Seti and was looking to improve my times!

Where and how do I repair the ncurses issue.

I do not mind doing a reinstall. If someone has any suggestion as to a "better" distro, my ears are open!

I have 3G to play with on the hd, and cpu and ram to spare!

Any suggestions as to the partition size and type I should have. Turbo says a full "all-in-one" graphical developemental workstation needs ~1300M.

getting confused, but still not going to give up!

It could be that you have the wrong version of ncurses. I would suggest that you go download the latest version. You ought to be able to find it by putting the words 'ncurses' and 'linux' in Google or some other search engine. Hope this helps.
