Debian. Installing networking--my PCMCIA bridge is detected, just not my ethernet card. my log says that APM is deselected, whatever that means, if it has any bearing. I don't quite understand how modprobe works--how I've tried it thus far hasn't worked--and I'm going nuts. What files do I edit? what do I put in them? where are the drivers? how do I reference them? WTF??? ...the freakin' networking just won't work. I've been crawling google for two days trying to find one good help file that doesn't tell me how to do it in Gnome with RedHat. nothing doing. ARGH!!! I'm still new at this, but they don't have any non-gui
