I am interested in video game emulation under linux. I did a search for packages in debian and I found the following:
xmame- arcade emulator
ines- nes emulator
nestra- nes emulator
zsnes- snes emulator
snes9x- snes emulator

My machine is a PII 350 with 224 megs of ram.

Which of the above emulators will run smoothly on my machine?

What are your experiences with the emulators I have listed?

What are some good emulation web sites? By good I mean that they host roms rather than linking to other sites and the pages aren't filled with deceptive advertising and run by l337 twelve year olds.

Snes9x runs really smooth on my Athlon 550, 128 MB RAM. There's also a GUI, snes9express, for it, which makes it more comfortable to use.

I'm still not confident that my computer will be able to handle snes emulation. A 550 athlon is a fair bit more power than a 350 PII

I would just try it out. I don't think that SNES-Emulation takes THAT much power.

I haven't had much experience with Emulation in Lkinux, but i do know that i used to run snes9x on win on a P1 200mhx mmx with no problem
