Capture Digital Video on Linux

Trying to capture still shots and/or mpeg video from my SONY TRV340E camcorder. I am running Mandrake 8.2 and it recognises it in the hardware settings. Is connected via USB. Anyone know of any programs that will successfully let me capture these images?

I didn't have the exact same camcorder but I use to ue Xawtv, I believe it was called, Worked fine for either still shots or streaming.
