Are there commands other than xf86config (hate that one) to configure X in Slack 8.0? To my surprise XF86Setup, the tool I used to configure 7.1, wouldn't work with this version. (I've installed 2.4.5 kernel.) Thanks a bunch.

XFree86 -configure, try that from the command line it will get you basic X configurations. It will help if you no your card and monitor, then you just can edit the XF86Config file after you run the command.

hey there they changed the xf86setup command in slack just use xfree86setup and it should do the same thing.
