Just a little warning to the linux community. Dont get it. They may say it's 'free' but in fact you have to live with a big, ugly, and very CPU intensive banner in the corner of your banner.
If you have already made the mistake of upgrading and wish to go back to the older one the files are still available on their web site.
Just a little rant/advice. :)

I myself am quite partial to Opera. I know of the banner issue, but it doesn't bother me that much...after all, the browser is FAST

frankly i think the whole ad based thing is pretty f*'d up. its like AOL or something. if i wanted ads and filth i would use windows and AOL. if its free it should be free, free of ads, free of bloat, and free to use/distribute. but its not a perfect world and in my opinion netscape (4.76) is just as fast if not faster than opera and it has shockwave/flash plugins and java plugins that work fine on my box.

I wouldnt mind the banner to much if it didnt lock up the browser every 10 minutes...
or maybe thats just a new browser feature causing it..

I think they did it on purpose....its the whole "annoy them to hell so they buy it" kinda thing. You know, like Microsoft

I think it's a good thing. Let them put a banner there. It keeps it free for the guys who don't have the money/don't want to pay for the software.
They have paid employees there, and they don't want to live on contributions. I think it's a nice way to solve it.
If you really hate it that much and think it's a conspiracy or something like that, just wait for some dude to crack it and get it from astalavista.box.sk. But hey admit.. that's really lame...
