I am a newbie.I was peeking into linux.I upgraded my linux RH 7 to RH 7.1. After that, I chose kde as my WM.After that It has asked me to if I would like to convert from previous version to the newversion as there are old version kde files.I said yes.The screen got hung for about 15 min. After that I rebooted and now, it won't boot at all. It's asking me to repair the system by logging as root.Ofcourse,I do have root passwd. I have an access to service engineer also. But before, I want to lay my hands where I went wrong.MOre over, there are some .kde*(*=etc) files in root /. When tried to remove them, it said they are write protected.I tried to change permissions (chmod=777).But it did not work.
Can somebody tell what went wrong technically? of course I know some thing went wrong terribly when rebooted it. I have source CDs also with me.But i don't have boot floppy.WO using CD s can i bring entire things back.
I would be happy if you could either answer to the forum or my pid 'yasasvi@indiatimes.com'
Thanks in advance
