Does anyone know how well dualbooting Windows XP RC2 with Linux works? I'm thinking of putting XP on my box for a bit, but I don't want to mess up Linux :)

I just installed WinXP RC1 the other day. Triple booting Win98/WinXP/Mandrake 7.2 now and had no problem what so ever.
Take a guess which one is booted 99% of the time ....

Eventually I'll probably give the entire drive containing Win98 and XP over to Linux, but XP is kind of fun to play with for a couple hours here and there and Win98 still has games that I cant play in Linux so Windows can stay for the time being.

It's best to install the MS OS's first because they automatically write to the MBR(assuming you want to use a linux bootloader).

It really depends on which boot-loader you want to use. If you want to use an MS bootloader then install an MS OS last. If you want to use a linux bootloader install linux last.

EDIT: If you already have linux up and running then make sure you have a boot-disk before you do anything, as I said above the MS OS's automatically write to the MBR so if you don't have a boot disk you won't be able to get back into linux after installing XP.

It's good to hear there's no problems, I was under the impression that MS had changed the way XP works with the MBR, making it impossible to boot multiple systems that weren't MS's. At without using a seperate hard drive.

Either this feature is out, or still not implimented yet.
