okie today i realised i am sooooo damn tired of my current job (air conditioning installer in arizona)im the guy that goes into the 164.3 degree attics to repair ductwork or install a ac unit blah blah very hot i want no more of it!

anyhow one of the main things that i want to improve on can also get me out of the heat and to a workstation doing even data entry that thing ...my skill's in typing

i am the pointer typer always looking at the keyboard to write text or numbers as im doing now

is there any good linux programs that can help speed up my typing? get me out of this 2 fingered gaze at the keyboard and into the ten fingered gaze at the screen?

(im working on my english skill's hehe)

secondly 3D Modeling/design i use 3dsmax quite a bit under windows just wondering if there are any programs like it for linux

so thats it :)

Thanx in Advance For Your Help and/or Suggestions

There are Typing Tutor Programs for Windows. I've never heard of any for Linux, although there could be.

For typing tutors and 3D modeling, I would suggest you give freshmeat.net a try. There are other sites you could try, but freshmeat is about the best.

I always thought the typing classes in school were a waste of time. I'm damn glad now that I took them. Nice to be able to look at the screen while your typing away.

If you go to sourceforge.net or freshmeat.net and do a search for "typing tutor" a bunch of stuff comes up.

I don't know too much about modelling but Maya is available for Linux and blender is also worth taking a look at.

There is a program just called "typing" which is a console typing tutor, and there is a GIMP-like 3D modelling program called giram.

Hmm.. for 3d modeling, no linux program is superior to 3ds max 4. Unless you can find Maya warez for it (in which case, PM me ;) ). Blender is OK but if you have MAX, it's not worth learning!

I never took a typing course either, but as anyone who has seen me chat in #lno on irc.openprojects.net will tell you, I can type plenty fast :)
