Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Trouble Getting Into Windows Partition
I just installed RedHat 7, but I am having trouble getting into my Windows 98/2000 partitions. When LILO loads and I choose dos (the option automatically inserted during installation) it simply says "Loading dos..." and nothing happens. I tried editing my LILO configurations to other devices like /dev/hda2 and /dev/hda3. I installed Windows before Linux, so the hdax numbers are smaller than the Linux ones. Does anyone know why this is happening? Thanks for the help.

I encountered the same problem when I installed Redhat 7 on my laptop. Not sure whether you faced the same symptoms as I did (maybe you can check out my post at http://www.linuxnewbie.org/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=014631)
I tried booting up from my Windows boot disk and erasing the MBR with "fdisk /mbr" and reinstalling LILO. Have you tried that yet?
Hope this helps.

Are you using two hard drives? If so, then maybe you should try "hdb" instead of "hda". Also, take a look at your /etc/fstab. Which partitions is Linux installed in? Could it be possible that you accidentally wiped out Windows during installation?
