Is it safe? fancypiper 10-15-2002, 08:17 PM yes ashoksagar 10-15-2002, 08:17 PM sure yes you can. if you are in doubt, you can just rename the directory to ****.old and see if there is any problem running the program, if it runs fine you can delete the directory. el_fish0r 10-15-2002, 08:57 PM thx guys. i renamed the folder and the program still worked fine. :D So i just deleted it. Wallex 10-15-2002, 09:35 PM When you do 'make install', what it basicly does is to move files to their final repository and that's the reason you can just delete the folder after the installation.. because it is left with the source code and other files that aren't needed by the actual program to run. I would recommend to keep the original file if you want to reinstall the program in the future or do a 'make uninstall'. Unfortunately not every program has an uninstall rule (meaning that it can't be uninstalled... well, it can, but you have to know which files to remove). One way around that is using checkinstall, a program that will make and 'install' an rpm/deb/slack package into the database, that way the program gets recorded and you can uninstall it using your package manager. PD: Sigh.. doesn't it shows that I like this program? I just wished I could get it working.... damn rpm-build program. justlinux.com
