Does Linux support NTFS? I was fairly certain that it didn't but after seeing it mount one of my NTFS drive, I was very surprised. Not only is it an NTFS drive, but it's actually mounted as a folder on another drive in Windows. Linux would only let me see the contents of the drive as root though, otherwise it said I didn't have permission. It only happened once and when I reset my computer, it was gone. Does anyone know what's going on?

Linux supports NTFS, but it is *strongly* recommended to only use the read-only kernel bit to do it. Writing to NTFS is still experimental, and can result in Bad Things.
