I just got Redhat 8.0 installed, and everything worked right out of the install on this crappy laptop, even the S-Video out. I'm pretty much running nothing but Linux now, but I am still having to switch back to XP to watch any kind of video.

What are some good video players, especially that supports DiVX, that will work with RH8?

Also, are there any other good MP3 players other than XMMS? I'd switch to .ogg but that would just take to long to rerip everything to another format :(

I like AlsaPlayer (http://www.alsaplayer.org) for playing music. But it doesn't do much other than that, if you might want it to. It doesn't do video, for example. It also doesn't have a track repeat function (someone posted a patch to the alsaplayer-devel mailing list that added looping support about a year back, but it never got put into a current version that I can see... :( )

For video, I don't really know, but I've heard that MPlayer (http://www.mplayerhq.hu) is decent. I don't know about divx support though.
