Xine playing Avi ?

i have xine installed and it works ok , but now i want to watch avi file's with xine , i guess i do have to install something ( codec's ? ) that will make this happen , i searched through the forums but the links posted in the " xine and divx " threads are dead , so could anybody tell what to install so xine will play avi's ( divx) ?

download this (http://ftp.lug.udel.edu/MPlayer/releases/w32codec.tar.bz2)

then untar it via the command:

tar -jxvf w32codec.tar.bz2

this should creat a win32 directory with all of the needed codecs inside. move this whole directory to /usr/lib.

In the end you should have a /usr/lib/win32 which will have all your codecs.
