Modem problem with Red Hat 8.0

I can't get my modem to work on my Red Hat 8.0...It keeps giving me "Can't dial, modem is busy" message.

I have a Conexant PCI v.92/v.44--HSFi

What should I do? ..dunno where to start looking :(

Is this a winmodem? www.linmodems.org or .net may have drivers.

Also search the forums for 'Conexant' as I see it posted quite often.

I have sucessfully got my conexant softmodem to work with Redhat 8 using the drivers here.
