Nvidia Drivers

You know, I constantly hear about people upgrading their nvidia based cards to the latest nvidia driver release.

How is the X server provided by Nvidia different from the X server provided by let's say SuSE or Red Hat?

it's not the x server, it's the drivers, GLX and kernel modules that they update.

they speed up X, and replace mesa with glx so that you can play Quake 3, and the such with 3D acceleration.
