I have just got DNS working after some 6 weeks of trying. I’m sooooo happy

Please do NOT buy the book Suse Linux Server
ISBN: 076454765B because its crap.

This is without a doubt the worst book I have ever read. The screen captures are virtually unreadable, and the book is full of errors. Typos, Technical errors, references to the wrong figures, references to lines in examples that were not there.

The errors became such a distraction that I ceased really being able to focus on the technical material in the book - such that it is. Syntax examples are in the wrong case, fonts are not used consistently to call out commands, programs, etc. Stupid stuff like periods missing from IP addresses, etc. that any proof reader should have caught.

NOW, I need to set-up a simple virtual FTP service. I have found some good documentation within bind, but what it does not tell you is how and where to create IP Aliases

i need 2 put this somewhere

(Example)
; In client-01.com DNS database
ftp.client-01.com. IN A 192.168.1.251

; In paunchy.net DNS database
ftp.domain.net. IN A 192.168.1.250

Which file do I enter this? Not 2 sure :(

If somebody could kindly tell me this I should be able to suss the rest out.

Then you are looking to add this to your dns zone file.
I'm not familiar with the Suse Linux Server but look on your system for a directory called 'named' On my system it is located here var/named/ this is where my zone files are located.

I have set DNS up already, not talking about zone files

Talking about where to create 'IP Aliases' for virtual FTP services
