I guess you already saw the answer I posted in the other thread of the same question.

That worked for me with Caldera and the same or similiar for a friend at work that runs Redhat.

Did you uncomment the line? This is taken from the Caldera knowledgebase (I always use Caldera) and the name of the file you edit may be different.

I could ask my friend at work (our dba), but he's away on vacation I believe.

Originally I got the info from searching at www.hummingbird.com (http://www.hummingbird.com) and eventually found the solution.

To allow a graphical connection to a remote linux box, the computer you wish to connect to must allow graphical connections from your system. This is done by editing the Xaccess file in /etc/X11/kdm/ to allow the client computer(s) -- None is usually the default but uncommenting the line

#*#any host can get a login window

allows all clients to connect, which may be a security risk, so you may want to specify clients. For this faq, we will just uncomment this line (it is the first non-comment commented line). Once
this change is made, you will need to re-start the X-server. You can use the login manager, or just use a terminal to go to runlevel 3 then back to 5:

mdwatts,
I did uncomment the line #*# any....
remove #*# rite. But it didn't show up on my exceed list. what is going on? Only my solaris ip are listed on the exceed list. do need to configure redhat box so that is can broadcast the ip.

Thank you!!!

If my memory serves me correctly, just remove the first # so you have

*#any host can get a login window

If that fails, I would suggest you try the knowledgebase at www.hummingbird.com (http://www.hummingbird.com) and do a search for linux. Sorry as I'm on vacation this week so I can't check how I have it setup at work.

Make sure you are using the correct Xaccess. Doesn't Redhat come with Gnome and KDE?

If usng Gnome, then the Xaccess file would be in the gdm directory instead of kdm. Would it not?

The Xaccess file in RedHat 6.2 is in the /etc/X11/xdm/ directory. I've edited this file and it still doesn't work. I went to Hummingbird's site and they have this article posted Hummingbird (http://www.hummingbird.com/support/nc/exceed/ex60246.html). I made the changes according to this article and I got closer. The XTerminal works but the XWindow does not. I read another article from Hummingbird claiming it has a problme with Gnome. I have both KDE & Gnome installed. I'm not sure how to connect using KDE instead of Gnome. Any ideas?

Best to read the Redhat documentation as I am not a Redhat user.

I've heard of some command that switches between KDE and Gnome. switchdesk ???

There's always lots and lots of documentation available at your distros website or even installed on your very hardrive.

Someone please help out here...

I'm just a KDE sorta guy.
