ok, I have heard all the argumnets, and I have decided that I will try out Debian for myself and see how it compares to my Mandrake 7.2 distro. My installation of Debian went ok, but XFree wasn't set up right, and I need to get the SVGA server ( I only got the VGA16 server for some reason). I was wondering how to use apt-get to get the required server (as well as upgrade to version 4.0.2). I have never used apt-get and I figure this is a good way to start. Thanks for the help

That should answer all your questions. You can use this command to get the svga server:
apt-get install xserver-svga

Read this website for X4 stuff under Debian:
http://people.debian.org/~branden/
You can just add one line to your sources.list, but soem people have been having trouble so you might want to read the docs at that site first.
