Mailbox vulnerable

Hi, Im running Red Hat 6,2 - zoot and Im have this message on my maillog file:
Mailbox vulnerable - directory /var/spool/mail must have 1777 protection
I have used chmod 1777 mail but nothing happen.

Any sugestion...
