Hi, all

I was using route to share internet with my localnet, now I try ipchains, but still I don't understand difference & what is better to use :(

Any help, link or just comment is welcomed :)

Ipchains replaced Iptables when the 2.4 kernel came out. So the difference between those to is the kernel.

HTH a little.

Yes this is more clear - ipchains is new version of iptables, but strange because in my 2.2.16 it is.

What about route? Is it sinonym for ipchains? By it's syntax it is more complicated & less powerful. Is route only for establishing path from local net to internet?

iptables replaced ipchains in 2.4, not the other way around.

English is not my native language, so I misunderstood. Thanx for corrections :)

Does anybody using route instead of making rules for ipchains/iptables?
