Lilo security

Hello Linuxer !
I have a problem when trying to make dual boot. Everyone can enter to my linux system by typing Linux 1 and he is a root now !!
Then i edit my /etc/lilo.conf file an add password=123456, but i still not working at all. Can you help me solve this problem ?

did you run /sbin/lilo after editing lilo?
