I'm gonna use a mini-linux distro, pygmy-linux, and this don't have X-windows. This is also the very first time I'm using Linux so I don't know very much about this things. i want to have X-windows in this distro. The distro is based on Slackware 7.1 and I think I have Slackware 7.something, somewhere so how do I fix it from the CD:s?

Thanks for soon response!

Well, the reason mini-distros don't have X is because X is pretty big. If you're a first time Linux user, I would recommend you get a full Linux distribution, otherwise you might miss out on a lot of good stuff.

If you still want to stick by your plan, I suggest downloading X from http://www.xfree86.org and then installing it. Or, if you have a Slackware CD, and your mini-distro uses the Slackware packaging system, you should be able to obtain the X packages from the slakware directory. The directories in there starting with x are the packages that you probably want.

Well, this mini-distro is running at the same partition as MS-DOS (probably all do =)

I'm waiting for a bigger harddisk to use both Windows and Linux, so in the meantime I want to learn to use Linux, and of course begin use it.

Thanks for your good help!
