I downloaded all 3 Debian ISOs and burned them, I figured what the hell Ill try it see if I like it, Im a Slack and Mandrake kinda guy but open.
Put CD in blah blah, hit enter to setup , OK no problem, Keyboard yeah, yeah, partitions OK, still no problem, install kernel and modules, sure thats what I want to do, select install medium yeah OK , insert first CD ....already in there, OK,
Next thing that happens is--
Error- Could not mount Rescue Floppy..WHAT rescue floppy I said install from CDROM

OK maybe it really wants 2nd CD, 2nd CD insert ..install medium CD rom....path to something-1.44/rescue.bin
option 1 list them automatically or option 2 manual
try either one same thing cant find this damn rescue.bin file and WHY does it want it!

WTF- Been to site, read install instructions on CDs I see no reference to this.

Anybody with Debian, so whats the trick, what step did I miss!

Hmmm... I can't really help you, but I can suggest something. With Debian, a lot of people don't use the CDs at all. Just download the bare minimum to bootstrap the install program (which should be a couple of floppy images), then get the rest of the install data and the base system off the Internet. That's what I've done for a while now and it always works great.

On my Debian Potato CD, rescue.bin is in dists/potato/main/disks-i386/current/images-1.44/rescue.bin
is yours an official Debian CD (ie Potato or Slink or whatnot)? Or is it an unofficial version of testing or unstable? Rescue.bin is used as a boot disk by the install, because as a rescue disk it serves that purpose well (hence it wanting to install it).

Hope I've helped =)

Could it be that it wants to create a rescue disk for use in the future?

Have to tried inserting a blank floppy?

Just a thought...

Well ive tried the blank floppy thing-no go.
I dont get this- it does 2 different things depending upon what cd I put in there to boot from but it all comes down to this rescue thing just in a different way as described above.

Does debian just simply want to boot and install from floppy first to get it started?

If you want an easier install of Debian try
Progeny. It has a user friendly install and
