I'm trying to install KDE 2.0.1 on Linux-Mandrake 7.1. I've fixed all the dependency errors and installed the rpms for kdesupport and
kdelibs. However I am trying to install kdebase and I get the error message that I need menu 2.1.5-42mdk. So I downloaded it but when I tried to install it, it gave me the error message that it first needs rpm 3.0.5-22mdk and libbz2.so.1. So I downloaded rpm 3.0.5-22mdk and libbzip2_1-1.0.1-7, which is supposed to contain libbz2.so.1. However when I tried to install libbzip2_1-1.0.1-7, it said that my version of rpm will not support major numbers above 5. I have no idea what this means. So I tried to install the other package (rpm 3.0.5-22mdk) but it also needs libbz2.so.1. What am I supposed to do now?

While I use Debian, I do believe I saw a VERY similar question on this board recently. Look around for it in this and other forums on this site. Perhaps that will help you out.
I'm almost positive it was here.
I wish I had a solution for you.
