I've been trying to change the default/global font in GNU emacs (running in X) and haven't had much luck. It works fine if I launch it from xterm with the -fn option, but everything else I've tried (.emacs, .Xdefaults) hasn't worked. Someone must know how to do this.

Thanks

In Emacs, click on Options/Fonts and go from there. Also, click on Help/Basic/Packages/faces (support for multiple fonts) for information on how to install more fonts, or how to use fonts already on your system.
