I am trying to setup a VPN or anytype of system that will allow mobile users connected via dialup from anywhere in the world to connect to my linux server and map it as a network drive using winXP. How is this possible? Can it be done? I am a big fan of the belief that anything can be done but I really don't know enough about VPN's to make it happen. Any help is really appreciated.

Yes, you can set up a PPTP server. Windows comes with a default VPN client tool to connect to it. It isn't the securist thing out there, but is very used in a wide varitiy of areas. There's a great how to at the following link.

If you want something at a higher level, try www.freeswan.org. It allows for opportunistic encryption which is perfect for remote users. You do however need a much better client connector like ssh sentinal.
