Sorry as I wouldn't know since I've never had to do a ftp install.

Any documentation on Redhat's ftp servers or website to explain the process?

I would imagine if it's possible, Redhat would have the instructions posted either on ftp or http.

I'm pretty sure you would download the boot-floppy image, dd or rawrite it to a floppy, and boot with it. One of the first questions the installer asks is where you want to install from; cd-rom, hard-drive, NFS, FTP, or HTTP.

It's a good way if you only have a single computer you're installing to, because you only download the RPMs that you want to install. But, you'd have to download them multiple times for multiple computers. And, you need a fast connection on the computer you're installing.

Try this link, its for installing via nfs, but you might be able to do ftp in a similar way. OR just use nfs :)
