Hi,
I'm running Caldera eDesktop V2.4 which came with some 3.* version of RPM. Lately I'm finding that I can't use it to install packages downloaded from the web becuase they have a major version number greater than 3. Has anyone else seen this problem and been able to fix it? I'm currently trying to compile the source for RPM V4.0 but as is always the case with Linux it's one problem after another so I'm hoping there's a better solution. I placed a service request with RedHat and was advised to install rpm-4.0-4.i386.rpm but guess what, it won't install because it has a major version greater than 3.
