Check out this site:
http://www.linux.ncsu.edu/LDP/HOWTO/IP-Masquerade-HOWTO.html

It's really not that difficult to do, there are a couple of scripts here you may need to cut and paste however.

Eccentric,

Thanks for the link! I have printed the text at work! I have another question???

It says the machine should be "decent". I was planning on using an older P133 with 64M FPM RAM! Do you think this will be adequate for the task at hand ???

sys info:

aopen ap5cs mobo
p100@133
64M FPM
248M HD
3com 3c503 NIC
Trident 9440 video

again this is a "spare parts box"

Would I notice any performance differences using a faster box??? or am I going to be limited by the speed of my modem connection???

If you're referring to the machine that does the forwarding, I would think that if it can run Linux, you won't have a problem with the masquerading performance. It's basically just transmitting packets. I'm running vmware with Windows on Linux and I have my Linux box setup for IP Masq from the Windows box. When watching my CPU and memory utilization I can't tell a difference on the linux machine when I'm transmitting packets on the Window virtual machine.

Thanks eccentric !!!

Just one last question! Can I install LINUX as the only OS on my box??? Every install I've ever seen has been a dual boot type setup! I would prefer to have only LINUX on the HD to conserve space!

Yes you can. You could format your hard drive, and just install Linux. Lilo would still install by default, but you would only have one boot image for it to load.
