Hello all, I want to start off saying I am an Uber Newbie when it comes to this stuff ^_^
But here is my Problem.
I currently Have a 1.2gig box running Red Hat Linux v 7.2. When I installed I used LILO, installed KDE, and set it to be a Server.
I take the Server and plug it into my LAN and configure it an IP address (192.168.0.250) and let it go on it's way. now, this is my current LAN setup...
{Cable Modem}
|
[D-Link Router]
|
-------------------------------------
| | | |
(Comp1) (Comp2) (Comp3) (Server)
The three computers I have on the LAN can connect to the Server just fine. But When I give out my IP address to others they can't connect. for the sake of arguement, lets say my IP is 25.47.58.34.
When on my LAN if it go to telnet and type 'open 192.168.0.250' it works and lets me in, But when I leave my house and type 'open 25.47.58.34' I get a message that the connection has failed.
My Question is this: Is there anyway to connect to my server when it is behind the router?
Any help on the subject would be great.
Thank you all very much.
