20 GB harddisk( five 4GB(approx) partitions on Fat 32).In order the partitions are C(primary dos partition),D,E,F,G(logical partitions on Extended dos partition). The C drive has win2000 installed and D drive has winxp installed.I want to install redhat 7.2(any linux dist: )in the last drive i.e G drive. How can i do it without disturbing win2000 and xp.

If that is not possible how can i uninstall xp from this dual boot system and install linux in its place. Can i uninstall xp.(the order in which the os's were installed was 2000 and then xp).

I expect some advice on how to continue

Does your Windows system dual-boot correctly now? If it does, install Linux as a custom installation and use disk druid to put Linux in the last partition. (Linux doesn't use letters for its partitions.)

Make sure to choose GRUB as your boot loader. It is best able to handle large drive geometries.

You will need to delete your last partiton (g:) to allow room for linux. As a min you will need a linux swap partition (2x RAM) and the rest for the / partition. I have not played with the bootloader in W2K but if its the same as NT then you should be able to boot to linux. Write the linux boot loader (lilo or grub) to the / partition and not the MBR.
