I am NEW to Linux. This is my first install ever, so I am not afraid of starting over from scratch. I have gotten through all the partitioning, user account setup, etc... The installation started installing the applications, and got to an app called ispell. It's been sitting there for about 45 minutes now, so I know it is not going any farther! Anyone have any clues on what I may have done wrong?
Sys Config: Gateway 2000, Pentium 166, 32MB Ram, 3gb HD, S3 video... Everything was automatically detected fine. I am installing off of the Boot Disk and CD-Rom.

I doubt you did anything wrong. It's probably a bug in the install program. Anybody know how to get around it? You could try and see if you can tell it not to install ispell, but it might be in the group of things it always installs.

Actually, I just re-booted. did the install this time through the Text-based way, and got past all the app installs... Now I just gotta figure what the heck my monitor (which is not on the list) is!!! Thanks for your help.

Just curious, did you choose "Check for Bad Blocks" before formatting? I've experienced this bug with the graphical install where if you select it, the install freezes, every time.

No... I didn't see that option. Actually, after getting the install to work Friday, I decided today to blow it away and try it again. This time I installed the KDE Workstation instead of GNOME. Worked beautifully. No problems at all. Now it's time to get the sound working and start jamming some tunes!!! http://discussions.linuxplanet.com/smile.gif
