Hi,

I'm trying to setup a diskless computer so I need to remotely boot. I need to install PXE on Debian but the magazine article I've been using kinda left out some details on how to do it. So how do i install PXE right now i have installed and setup a DHCP server and I think TFTP is working. I am also a little confused as to what pxelinux.0 is supposed to do and how i get it.

I don't exactly know the answer your looking for, but you know that PXE itself is resident on the NIC right? And that only a small subset of NICs are PXE-enabled?

You have to set up the Linux software that will respond to the PXE DHCP requests etc.

Yah I know that. But what I am confused is how do I set up my server to use pxe. If you know how to do netboot or etherboot thats fine too. I just need one of these methods to work. Magazines leave a lot out of how to setup a diskless cluster

You may want to take a look at LTSP (http://ltsp.org) instead. They do have DEB packages which make the install fairly easy. They also have PXE and boot ROMs. The only problems I had was getting tftp to work properly. I ended up having to use a box already setup for tftp/dhcpd but only because I was impatient.
