my biggest problem thusfar, in my quest for linux knowledge, is figuring out WTF some of these terms mean. for example, i have no F'ing idea what X is.

i'm sure i'll get flamed all over the place for this, but could somebody point me toward a glossary of frequently used linux terms? cuz i'm LOST on most of this stuff...

X is kind of like Windows95. It's the graphical display (called a GUI, graphical user interface). This graphical mode (called run level 5) allows you to point and click on stuff.
