I have RH 7.2 and iam trying to update the openssl version (0.9.6b) that came with installation to 0.9.6b-28. so i downloaded updated openssl package from redhat site. But i have a problem when i try to update my original version with updated packages. i get an error called
failed dependencies,
openssl =0.9.6b-8 is needed by openssl-devel-0.9.6b-8.
so how do i get over this problem and update the new version of openssl.
thanks in advance.

Finally, and easy problem to help out with...I am sick of linmodems...
It is not letting up upgrade to the newer version of openssl since the
development RPM requires it (i.e. removing the opne SSL will cause the develpment package to stop working). You can delete the devel SSL
RPM and it will install. You may want to upgrade the the same devel
version of open SSL.

Is there a reason you're not going to openssl-0.9.6g? Any earlier versions had some decently annoying bugs in them, one of which causes a large security hole in SSL-enabled Apache web servers. Updating to 0.9.6g fixes that.
Just wondering.
