I'm trying to put Rad Hat Linux on a new partition on my hard drive that was created using partition magic. I have tried creating unused space (in partition magic) and allowing linux to make its own partitions and made the partitions in partition magic.
Both ways I get an error during Linux installation saying something to the effect "Unable to align partition properly. Boot loaders will have probems. This error can be fixed later and suggesting that you ignore for now". Complete installation and Linux will not boot with a floppy, GRUB, or boot magic.

Any suggestions

just a wild guess, but it sounds like your /boot partition is above cylinder 1024...
