I'm in love with x-chat. But, really, this is so subjective, it's almost like favorite foods. Audition a bunch, Ksirc is popular with many.Ray

XChat (xc!) is great for casual and power users because you can customize it with commands/scripts and it's easy to use.

*****X (BX) is great for the user who wants to know everything that's happening on the network; it tells you when netsplits are occurring and when they are resolved. Since it is a cli prog, it runs in a terminal and the commands are numerous and difficult to remember. But, there's always <TAB> to help you out:

type / and hit <TAB> and BX spews out a long list of commands. Alternatively, type /a and hit <TAB> and get the commands starting with a. BX is fugly, but quite functional when you get the hang of it.

There's other IRC progs out there, but these two are the best IMO... I use both.

*****X, XChat (for gnome users) and kvirc (for kde users) are my fav's. Check http://www.linuxmafia.org for slack packages of various clients, or http://linux.tucows.com

I realy like Xchat, although I wish it were easier to perform a list of commands when you first sign on to a server.

hey all,
I just reinstalled Slack 12 to my linux box. Everything went smoothly as always, until I went to configure irc clients. I tried both X chat and KSirc. Both are having the same problem. In the server box I use irc.icq.com/6667 this has always worked. Not now though, keeps saying unknown host and maybe i mispelled it. Any ideas?
