i can't configure sawfish
the gnome control center opens up then hangs, on whatever i want to configure (appearance, focus behavior, etc).
i used apt-get to install Helix (i'm using debian of course).
anybody had this problem? any ideas?
Don't know if this is the problem. Open gnome's control center, then open window manger. Make sure your using sawfish. If you are highlight and then use the edit button on right. Mine looks like this:
Name: Sawfish
Command: /usr/bin/sawfish
Configuration Command: /usr/bin/sawfish-ui

Can you get the middle click config menu?
rod: the one on the gnome command center didn't let me edit but i did add one that looked like that.. didn't work. bummer.
lawn gnome: nope, no middle button menu. all i get when i click the middle button is a beep. same when i use the right button on a sawfish window.

I'm just guessing here, but i did have some similar behaviour after upgrading sawfish, several iterations ago. Changing themes made all the probs go away. Then, amazingly, on the next release, the problematic theme worked fine again. Also, I have gotten all this balled up so badly, I couldn't get anything sensible. Renaming the .gnome and .sawfish dirs will put everything back in defaults. Lots of trouble, but at least, it's a ground zero beginning point. Much can be copied from the renamed dirs, to get your setups going again. If trouble still appears after this renaming, some lib is missing, wrong version, corrupt, etc. HTH, Ray
