This may not be a good choice for a topic in here, but I'm fairly sure that a few of you "newbies" have worked with some sort of embedded linux in the past.

I've got a problem over here. The best board for our application has a 256k bios for which I am to place my OS upon. Every embedded linux I've seen so far requires 512k - 4M Bios/Rom/Flash. Any ideas for how I can get my OS on there? It'll need to be able to support SCSI tape, eth, serial, parallel and possibly others.

The other option is to find a new board, the one we're looking at is a 1/2 SBC with a small backplane to put an adaptec 2940u2w on it.

If you don't have any ideas but can point me to a better forum/mail list for this, much apprieciated.

I've looked around and I'm not finding anything. The only reason I'm posting this is because I've got a day, two tops to get this info before they commit to the board.

Well, we can get a chipDisk for 96Mbyte, so I'm pretty sure that can handle what I need.
