Ctrl Alt Numpad + or - will switch resolutions you have already set in XF86Config.

To change the resolutions you set in XF86Config run as ROOT xf86config .

Some question might seem odd like v and h sync for your monitor. I hope you either: 1) have a good guess or 2) have your manual for your monitor.

You might also want to try Xconfigurator

For xf86config and Xconfigurator, restart your X server after making the changes.

Hello: Here's a nice monitor specs page I came across for info needed: http://ms.ha.md.us/~hawks/hardware/monitor.html

Really good if you don't have specs handy. Don't forget to add yours, if you know them, and your monitor isn't listed. Tom
