We are going to set up a Linux Proxy server for around 200 computers. I was just wondering what hardware would be preferable (Ram, HDD and speed, etc.) and what advantage it would have over using an outdated computer system (Pent 100 or so). Please feel free to go into Detail http://discussions.linuxplanet.com/smile.gif

For the last 18 months we've been using a Pentium 166MMX with 32 MB EDO Ram, 2.1 GB EIDE HD with around 120 clients and the proxy server works brilliantly. the only setabck we had is when the hard disk becomes full (imagine just 2.1 gb!)
