Hi - I'm running Mandrake 7.2, and noticed that during the bootup sequence, Linux gives an error that says "swapon failed. Invalid ______ (switch or argument, can't remember now) /dev/hda5.
hda5 is my swap partition - set to 128 megs. hda2 is my "root" partition. I'm dualbooting, if this matters. And, I set up my Linux partitions with PartitionMagic v6.0.
I had a ton of problems trying to install the distribution - all of them related to partitioning. Here they are, for what it's worth:
1.) Several times, DiskDrake refused to use established partitions (that were created in PartitionMagic 6.0.)
2.) Multiple times, after using DiskDrake to set the mount points on my root and swap partition, Mandrake's installer locked up during partitioning and refused to continue the installation.
3.) Multiple times, Mandrake's installer freaked out giving me the same swapon error I mentioned above, and kicked me out of the installer.
4.) Twice, Mandrake deleted the MBR and fried my Win98 partition.
5.) Twice, Mandrake locked up while trying to resize my Windows partition, frying it.
My question is this - where do I look to fix this.
I've got Mandrake 7.2 up and running, but I don't like getting errors during bootup and would like to fix this. Any suggestions?
