I have been trying to install Mandrake v8 for about a week now. I get several error msgs:

1. RGB_DB not found in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb.txt...

2. coud not open default font "fixed"

..and one other error. The first error msg, I checked to see if that path even exists and it doesn't.. I've tried both expert install and recommended but nothing solves this problem!

I have a Viewsonic 17G monitor and a Matrox G200 8 MB Graphics card. I have tried different installations trying different resolutions, generic graphics card and generic monitor resolution settings. Can anyone help???

i think the path is

/usr/x~/lib
leave the last x11 out

i think these needs to be edited in xf86config-4 but i may be wrong here

is your card supported by the way?

I tried searching but couldn't fnid a specific solution...

I have a matrox millenium G200 8MB and a viewsonic 17G monitor.

So is the path wrong by default when I do the mandrake install 8? Thx in advance..

..actually, the path is:

Couldn't open RGB_DB '/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb'

This is the error msg I get. which also leads to the default fnot "fixed" not found either.. any help from anyone? How would i go about trying to manually install the s/w package from the CD again?

How would I go about reinstallnig it from the CD? I've tried several reinstalls from the beginning.. and end up with the same result.

Can someone walk me thru on how to mount a CD drive and install the XFree package again possibly so all the files and directories that are supposed to be created do? Which library would I be doing? Would I do an rpm command?
