Wallex 09-22-2002, 03:31 PM You know how MSN is.. they are not gonna let anyone 'communicate' with them. Altough there are 'ways' around it.. I use Gaim, and it has no problem telling me whenever I receive new mail on my hotmail account (I have to keep it because my buddies use MSN messenger.. poor them), also I can configure the browser launch program so that whenever I 'open new mail' it opens a new tab in mozilla with the inbox. If you want a 'program that downloads MSN emails just like Outlook Express does', then you are in for trouble... even Outlook's Express system is not that supported (seems they don't really care about it), and from what I read at the fetchmail faq, it just can't be done. Well, for me running Gaim and opening my browser is good enough.. I rarely get mail on hotmail anyway, I am moving all my email communications to my notsohotmail account. GaMMa 09-22-2002, 03:40 PM Actually Microsoft was pretty open letting others use their IM networks on different clients, I believe they even dished some code out to help get it working. MS believes there should be a universal IMer where everyone can talk to everyone else seemlessly.. AOL has taken the opposite approach, with constant server changes rendering all clients other than AIM useless. Microsoft wants to establish a global IM protocol.. how nice. But let me guess... they want it to be MSN Messenger.. so that everyone needs to get a hotmail account... and that way Microsft can send spam to even more people and keep them all under their control.. all hidden under the excuse of 'having a global IM communications protocol'. How sweet... or maybe it's just me stretching out the truth, but I like how evil it sounds anyway. justlinux.com
