DVD Once and for all

I have spent at least ten hours over the past few days just onfinding/comiling/installing software and drivers for my Dvd drive could somebody tell me where there is a single package/download and how to install it would be very helpful

What are you looking to do? Just play dvd's?

Have a look at Xine.

the easiest dvd player to set up is Ogle. Xine can sometimes be a bit tricky.

it would be a little easier to trouble shoot this problem if you could give more details on what your hardware is, what exactly the problems are, the errors you get, and so forth.
