I pinged my linksys card and it gave a reply. Everything is good except for my dhcp, I installed all the dhcp packages that mandrake 7.2 had to offer. Then I enabled dhcp and setted teh device at eth0 and module tulip. Then I would get out of netconf and it would tell me that It wants to restart the network, it tries but comes back with an error saying "this command has taken longer then expected and to kill it". So I just decided to reboot the whole computer and when it was booting up it gave dhcpd failed while bringing up eth0. I am totally lost now, I thought I did everything correct...i tried playing around with it some more but I didn't know what I was doing so I was wondering if you guys can give me any advice. Thanks

Hi:

Try uninstalling all dhcp clients and reinstalling dhcpcd. It seems to play nice all the time.

Then check /etc/resolv.conf to make sure you have all the nameservers etc. listed.

I posted the resolv.conf format here http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/Forum1/HTML/013583.html

I tried it but to no avail...This is how I setted it up.
======================================
Hostname: aznfoolz
Adapter 1
Enabled DHCP
Primary + Domain: (nothing)
Alias: (nothing)
Ip address: (nothing)
Netmask: (nothing)
Device: Eth0
Module: Tulip
I/O: (nothing)
IRQ: 11
(When I checked usb and eth0 was sharing irq 11, but theres nothing in usb so there shouldn't me any problem right?)
=======================================
DNS
Domain: ne.mediaone.net
DNS 1: 24.128.20.6
DNS 2: 24.128.20.8
========================================
Shouldn't that work or did I fill out the wrong things? When I restart my computer and type lsmod, my drivers aren't there....something to do with rc.modules? I think I inputted the information incoreectly for the drivers in there...It complains pci-scan.o and tulip.o is invalid...Well I would insmod the drivers, type depmod -a, then modprobe tulip, finally I would try DHCP by typing ifup eth0...Says getting ip by dhcpcd....then says failed =(

I'm running Mandrake 7.2 on RaodRunner
I have Host Name blank
Adapter 1 (check (enabled) box)
IRQ (blank)

Also try setting up your network from
"DrakConf"
Network and Internet configuration
