Slackware could not find my hard drive during pre-install because I have a Promise 66 controller. I was told before that I had to use the 2.4 kernel with Slack. I was told that images are on the CD and that I should use rawwrite. Now my latets problem. I cant seem to find the right images for my computer. I want to have the 2.4 kernel in pre-install. I have a p3 machine with a western digital harddrive and promise 66 controller. Please help me slackware gurus.

Yes 2.4.x image from slacks ftp or cd has support for promise ata66 or if you want to use 2.2.x series of kernel the use ata100.i image found here:

for 2.4.5 --> bare.i (ftp://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackware/slackware-8.0/bootdsks.144/2.4.5/bare.i)

for 2.2.x --> ata100.i (ftp://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackware/slackware-8.0/bootdsks.144/ata100.i)

and the root image --> color.gz (ftp://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackware/slackware-8.0/rootdsks/color.gz)

when you run cdisk make sure you do a cfdisk /dev/hde (if the hard drive is plugged in the 1st port of the card)
