Hi all!
Ive search on the web but all i could find was that the new kernel 2.4 comes with a driver for pppoe. I was using roaring penguin clien before with the 2.2.12-20 kernel. The reason why i changed kernel was because i've add a new HD 40gb. I had to update the BIOS and the kernel caus the old one only recognize the HD for 6.5gb...So now, here I am: I cant get my dsl pppoe working. I tried adding the patch but everything was messed up...Says conflict with the old roaring penguin version even tough i delete everything (well, i think).
Question is: How does that "driver" for pppoe that come with the new kernel works?
Is it hard and how/where do I start?
Im using redhat 7.1 kernel 2.4.2

If im not clear enough, please tell me...and thanks much for any help!

For the 2.4.x kernel pppoe you need to use a patch to modify the pppd in order to use pppoe with 2.4.x kernel. Why not get the new roaring penguin package and compile it.That's how i got my dsl to work under slacware 8.0 before i moved to freebsd router.I did not play with the pppoe driver from 2.4.x, sorry no help there.

I tried the new roaring penguin...
It says that there was conflict with the old version.in adsl-setup, pppoe.conf adsl-start...etc...How can I remove all that stuff? caus i did rm -rf for all the things where was the conflict...Result: there is no more /etc/pppoe.conf but still tells me that there is a conflict...I really dont know how doing it...And, is there another client then the roaring penguin one? Of course, i would like to use the roaring penguin caus it worked so well with my old kernel...

thanks for helping.
