microsoft optical trackball problems

My mouse works kinda? It is useable but far from working. As long as I do not 'lose control' of the mouse by rolling it to fast it works fine. (Not including any of the buttons or scroll button) but a working mouse none the less. But sometimes it happens and it goes off the screen, not always in the top corner though. I can still use the keyboard fine so I ctrl+ alt+ <bs> to get out. There is not any errors when I do this. I have checked and gpm is not running? This is my Pointers section.

What is wrong? I ran the mouseconfig and tried generic ps/2 and the microsoft ps/2 and got the same reaction. Tried /dev/mouse as well.

Ok I found out why it was doing that I think. There was some wierd symbol in the XF86Config file and the end of the line, removed that and so far it is acting right. Now I am working on the wheel and the buttons. Thanks.
